Neues aus der Berggasse 19 – FreudMuseum

Volumes have been written about Sigmund Freud and his family, including their flight from Nazi-occupied Austria in June 1938. Far less is known about the relatives of Siegmund Kornmehl, whose butcher shop shared the famous address of Berggasse 19 for 44 years – and who was forced to sign over his business to the Nazis in October 1938. Now, 80 years later, a slide show and talk by the great niece of the successful tradesman will bring back to Vienna the eight Kornmehl brothers and sisters who thrived in the city during the same period as the Freuds did, and who intersected with the family in a variety of ways.
